that have it every week, and bars that host live music only during festivals and special events. This is a
guide to the regulars, the ones we can count on to deliver live bands and entertainment year round. So whenever
you're in town, there's some place to go for some live music. Even during hurricane season, in the dog days of
summer, there are musicians out there in Key West, performing for those who stay in town no matter what Mother
Nature dishes up for them.
Let's start with some of the favorite local classics of live music in Key West. Ask any local, The
Green Parrot is one of the best places in town for live music. They have a cute little dance floor right next
to the bar, in front of the cute little stage. It's intimate and designed for dancing, very often to reggae
bands. The bar has awesome vibes and you can feel the vibes the minute you walk in- everybody's happy. The art
on the wall is great, very funky and hippie-inspired. murals. So check it out, live music every weekend at the
Green Parrot.
Number two spot for live music in Key West is Sloppy Joe's. The most visible bar in town, with the most
activity every night, it's also famous outside of Key West so it's usually full of people, both local and from
far away. It's got live music and their exterior walls open up to the sidewalks so you can hear it and see it
right from the sidewalk. The stage is huge and raised so you really can see the band from the sidewalk. It's
on Duval Street and located on a corner so they catch music lovers from all directions. Plus, they have live
music starting at noon and continuing on for the next ten hours...every day! Wow, that's a lot of live music.
Number three bar for live music in Key West is Schooner Wharf Bar on the waterfront. This one is an outdoor
venue, with lots of barstools and tables for eating and hanging out. The music is apt to be more laid back, so
lunch-goer and brunch-eaters can chill while enjoying live music, but this place gets rowdy at night. Theyove
got a regular crooner on every day but Tuesdays, from noon til five, then others at night. This is a favorite
spot with locals, too. Great Keys vibes here, a true classic.
Number four is going to be Captain Tony's Saloon for live music. The dark space and the clutter-chic
environment plus the famous history of the bar and the owner not to mention the location, all combine to make a
fntastic bar and perfect venue for live music. We love this bar, and you can always find something happening in
here. Hemingway loved it too. They have live music every day, starting at noon so you can start your partying
early.
Number five, and at this point in the list, it's not necessarily by order or importance anymore. The Bull
and Whistle Bar has awesome music every day and night and there are three levels to enjoy it from. Watch for
professional Karaoke acts that will entrance you and live acts that will get you rockin. Their walls also open
up to the streets, inviting passersby on Duval to enjoy to fun. Awesome venue, lots of fun, love this bar.
