Pirates in Paradise Festival

Pirates in Paradise Festival - This is no small event in Key West. Pirate in Paradise Festival draws pirates and wenches from all over the glove, and features artists, writers, and historians. Sign up for any number of dozens of events, including pirate sails for $50 from Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, Caribbean Pirate Buffet, Walk the Plank Championships, and more. Also at Fort Zachary Taylor is a Village Market and Pirate Fest. Look for hurricane relief fundraisers with pirate themes, Maritime art exhibits at local museums, in addition to shipwreck and treasure exhibits at Mel Fisher's, the Shipwreck Museum and the Custom House Museum.

Lots of the Pirate festivities take place at Fort Zach, including Tall Ship Pirate Sea Battles and Land Attacks, Pirate Parades, Pirate School & Storytelling and treasure hunts. These are family events, including the Fight Circles, Strolling Minstrels & Pirate Puppets, although pirate fan adults will enjoy them too. Don't miss the Living History Pirate Encampments as well, also to be found at Fort Zach.

The Fort Taylor Pirate Fest, as it's sometimes called, takes place the first week in December each year.
