Captain Runaground's gets first prize for location and appearance because it's a floating barge covered in Christmas tree lights. There's one table that's not on the boat: it's on the dock. Two plastic manequins sit at that table day and night as the unofficial mascots of this ultra-casual restaurant on North Roosevelt Boulevard in Key West's business district. The boat slip is in Garrison Bight Marina, which is off the main drag as you enter Key West after taking a right onto the island. You can't miss it if you drive into town this way. Parking is right in front of the dock at the marina, in front of Charterboat Row.
The food here is, well let's just say that ambiance and location are the best things about Captain Runaground Harvey's Floating Restaurant. It's a very convenient spot to eat if you've just come off a fishing charter boat at the Marina. The chef gets his fish from the fishing boats that go out every day from Charterboat Row, where the restaurant is located. It's very picturesque, especially at night. |
