Key West Aquarium

Key West Aquarium - The Aquarium in Key West is a unique spot where kids of all ages can discover marine life. Check out the touch tank, right after you enter the Aquarium. You can pick up sea urchins, crabs and whatever else happens to be hanging around in the tank when you get there. If you have kids, then the touch tank should be your first stop. Along the side walls of the old 1930's-era building there are recessed tanks full of reef fish, lobster, grouper and all kinds of other fish. Get up close and study them, this is your best chance to see details on these ocean-dwelling critters and get some good pictures. The central area has other tanks, although they are definitely not touch tanks! They contain nurse sharks, sting rays and cobia. Definitely exciting to see sharks and sting rays up close. Outside there's a lagoon with the big boys in it: tarpon, Jack crevalles, Jewfish (now known as Goliath Grouper) and other big ones. Out back there is a large shark pen, with reef shark, tiger shark, bull sharks and a few others. Also out back are pens with sea turtles in them. This is a wonderful introduction to Marine life around Key West, and one of Key West's most-loved attractions for all ages.
