Origami - If you are in the mood for Sushi or any other type of Japanese food, then head for Origami. It's a superb restaurant with excellent service located right in Old Town, Key West. Origami serves up wonderful, fresh local seafood in its sushi, sashimi and sushi roll dishes. Choose tasty appetizers to start out your meal, then a smattering of various sushi pieces for your meal and you just can't go wrong at this local Key West eatery. Located on Duval Street, at the quiet end closer to Southernmost Point, Origami also provides plenty of parking out back. That's not common for a Duval Street establishment! There are outdoor tables set in a quaint courtyard that's shared by a few other restaurants on a beautiful pathway that leads right out to Duval Street. There's parking out back in a shopping center-type shopping area. It's some of the easiest parking for places on Duval Street. The restaurant isn't very big- maybe about five tables inside plus the sushi bar which has about seven or eight stools. Outdoor seating provides another five or six tables. The place seems authentic- they greet you at the door, Japanese style, and greet you when you leave, also Japanese style. There were real Japanese waitresses who were as pleasant and helpful as could be. The sushi chefs are busy at work making the freshest fish dishes. There are sushi specials each night and a full menu as well.
Service is as friendly and polite as can be, and some of the waitresses are even from Japan. Sit at the wooden sushi bar, or at a table in the air-conditioned dining area just behind the bar. The restaurant is small, but there are also tables outside. Green tea ice cream for dessert is a must! |
